the pump house mural

the pump house mural

I have begun painting a large mural on all four sides of the pump house building at Waneka Lake Park in Lafayette, CO.
This mural will be a beacon of local wildlife and rich biodiversity of a loved Colorado waterbody, Waneka Lake - over 30 species!
The purpose for this art is to add to the beauty & joy to the community, while also using this art to educate residents and visitors about the park’s complex ecosystem.
This will serve as a free educational tool, a conversation starter, and a call to action. We envision school groups and community members gathering here, learning about the significance of each species depicted
Artwork helps to highlight the beautiful, yet fragile of wildlife habitats, and leaving with a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship.

Currently I have fundraised 61% of the total funding needed for this project {Total $15,500], through crowdfunding and with help from friends and family donating.  If this includes you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!! I am grateful for your support. This is how I can bring you exciting works of art like this. I must work on what will continue to pay for my bills. And you support allows me to continue thriving, taking care of my family and doing what I love! Thank you!

Although this is a self-funded project, not paid for by the city, this project has had an enthusiastic thumbs up from the city of Lafayette's Public Art Committee - with a public art grant in 2024, with the Open Space Department - we will be sharing intersecting programming with this new free resource in 2025, with the Parks and Recreation Department - there will be great crossover information with this art and a newly planned exercise course signage that will tie into this piece, and even the Public Works Department is thrilled - they own the pump house and are excited to have such an exciting utility building!
We are aiming to secure full funding by the end of 2024 and complete the entire mural by May 2025. With 1 1/2 sides nearly finished, the mural has already had an overwhelmingly positive impact on the community. I am excited to see how this unique art piece will develop into a beacon of education for youth and a fun landmark for visitors of the park.
