Kids love big, happy dogs at the Children's Hospital

Viewing colorful, larger-than-life dog portraits can provide a dose of joy, especially when feeling unwell.
Tif Choate's art is featured in the permanent collections of two Children's Hospital campuses in Colorado. Commissioned in 2019, she created six paintings for the Children's Hospital Colorado, North Campus in Broomfield, CO. After exhibiting at the Frederick C. Hamilton gallery, Tif's colorful dog series gained attention.
The Aurora campus requested two more paintings the following year, one as a gift for a retiring board member. Visitors and patients at Colorado Children's Hospital Anschutz campus can now view these paintings, on the 9th floor.
  • "Queenie" and "Chester" can be found on the 9th floor, Colorado Children's Hospital Anschutz Campus, Aurora, CO.

'Cantando Huesos Muertos A La Vida'

'Singing Dead Bones To Life'

She is Alana: A music-inspired Day of the Dead artwork, combining instruments and driftwood to shape her skeletal figure. She is animated in song and playing a metal-esque, punk’d-out ukulele.
Purpose: Although surrounded by a broken world, disordered and dying, I encourage you to see differently and listen! The power of song, music and joyful speaking brings forth beauty with LOVE; it revives even dry bones. Joy reorders and renews.  Love brings forth life. Inspired by Ezekiel 37:1-6
Artwork Materials:    One Yamaha guitar, donated by Yamaha, one Serena classical guitar neck and parts, one Kohala Ukulele, both donated by the Choates, one handmade kit ukulele, donated by friend and fellow musician, David Rosenberg, native driftwood from Waneka Lake and Bird Preserve, steel wire, hardware from all instruments mentioned above, artificial, colorful flora and fauna, electronic components and clock gears and Tif's creative painting.  *There is a magnetic, fabric tongue that can be removed and stored in the back.
All artwork and crafting is done by the Choate family, Tif Choate, Jim Choate and ORion Choate. This artwork was a part of the ‘Strings To Wings’ Auction in 2021 to fundraise for The Sanctuary Music Project pioneered by musician, Rebecca Folsom.  It was bid on and won and then donated to the Lafayette Public Library for the enjoyment of visitors.
