Get A Grip by Tif Choate

Inspiration for the work:

I feel that we humans do not grasp the impact each and everything has. The ripple effect. How humans impact the trees that shade us, give us the materials for breath, hold the very ground beneath our feet brings me shame. How trees are mighty creations of God, so tall and deep and unmoving yet always moving, brings me awe. That they are trying to tell us a critical message and my brothers and sisters of the human race are deaf, makes me want to scream loudly. Can we just get to the heart of this message? A collective "get of grip" is aching to happen!

This painting continues to evolve, and currently is not sealed yet. I won't silence it if there are still things to say with this canvas. One day either my God will tell me it is done, or He will bring you to it's presence to declare this to be true. I trust the process. It will be sealed then.

'Get A Grip' working title 2019-2024, still in process, until finished and/or sold.

There was a time when we truly believed in collective balance, when we climbed trees as kids then stood under trees, our hearts a flutter, for our first kiss in the summer breeze. There was a time when the trees spoke soft whispers to one another, telling a long tale that grew upon each transfer forth through folkloric forest until a final breath upon a falling leaf. 
Oh wait, that still happens.
Kisses still get kissed under canopied branches and hearts beat and tremor, for this is what is life itself. Yet trees are now hailing tales of urgent howls with whipping whirls of yowls and roaring. Voracious fire, wind, capricious and fierce, heady heat and permafrost. Arbors made naked speak of ruin, destruction, and surrender to one another. Get a Grip, people! Listen closely—the trees are speaking from their very souls, beseeching us to see beyond our own existence. -Tif, February 2022

Materials + Tools

Flat brushes 1", .5", .125" and palette knife. Painted on a 36 x 48 x 1.5 inches gallery edge canvas, using medium-bodied acrylic paint and sealed in eggshell sealant. [Will be re-cleaned and sealed upon sale.] Professionally installed hanging wire, ready for display with no frame.  It includes a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and is signed by the artist on the back.

Shipping

Shipping is available within the USA. Oversized paintings are rolled and shipped in a tube, while smaller paintings come mounted on a wooden frame and packaged in secure boxes.

Free Admission - Entry to the NSF NCAR Mesa Lab Visitor Center is free. Hours - 363 days a year, every day of the week for public walk-ins

Hours: Monday - Friday (Weekdays): 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. MT Saturday and Sunday (Weekends) & Holidays: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. MT
